It
is interesting to see from the outside that the tower bears the remains
of ancient rooflines. Just above the triangular - headed window can be
seen the Saxon roof-line. Originally the window would have been a
doorway giving access to the upper chamber above the nave; similar
doorways would have led to chambers above the transepts and
chancel.
This beautiful building has
served the needs of the people of Norton for over a thousand years. It is still
an inspiration to us today, as we strive to learn about the love of God, and to
respond in love to Him. Pray for us.
